Played and attended friends’ experimental music shows at King Alfred Phoenix Theatre. Absolutely stunning environment and very nice sound system. Friendly and professional staff. Definitely worth a visit if you haven’t been.

Such a gem of a space. We played a show here and had the best time. The sound was crystal clear and the lighting options were really versatile too. Matt (the tech lead on site) held the event so beautifully, making sure we had everything we needed. Can't wait to play here again.

Performed on that stage countless times 1967-1970. Happy days. Excellent facilities.

What a fabulous week we had at King Alfred Phoenix theatre . It’s a newly refurbished venue with state of the art tech facilities . Also amazing back stage dressing rooms / green room and shower . The tech team supplied by the theatre to assist the show were so professional and helpful . Any issues were quickly resolved making it a smooth run . Shout out to Matt who lit the show perfectly ! If you are a community theatre looking for a smaller venue ( 120 seats ) go take a look . We have already booked for 2026 !

We had a truly excellent experience working with the theatre. The facilities were well maintained and technically well equipped, which made both rehearsals and performance run smoothly. The theatre team were very good throughout the entire process — always supportive, patient, and highly professional. From pre-production communication to the get-in, performance, and get-out, we felt very well looked after, and any questions or issues were handled quickly and kindly.

The technical facilities are excellent with great lighting and projection facilities. The stage space is very adaptable with adjustable blacks and rostra to create different height levels if needed. The space is acoustically excellent and audience friendly with flexible audience seating (100-120). The dressing room spaces are a good size, the green room comfortable and spacious. There is a good bar area for pre-performance refreshments Everything is kept immaculately. The technical support by Matt Cargill is exemplary. The venue puts many better known places to shame. It is a credit to the venue manager Rob Messik and the team behind it and deserves wider recognition.
